And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
I went to high school with this rich kid whose Dad bought him a perfect condition restored 66 GTO (which was 12 years old at the time) that he took out and totaled whithin about 2 weeks and thought nothing of it. He laughed about it. Meanwhile I had a wrecked 62 Impala wagon with a 6 cylinder and a 2 speed automatic that I got for $125 from a junkyard and managed to scrounge enough parts to get it running so I could get to a part time job. And by the way I was a fatherless 16 year old and had to figure out the mechanic stuff myself. GTO's tend to send me off on a rant . Sorry.
I had a 62 bonnie ragtop with a 421 super duty engine and a 4 speed atuo tranny in it. the best part was it was done in leather . spent a lot of time cleaning those seats and it was worth it. that back seat was GREAT ! had to sell it after going in the army. shame, as it was a great car and also a tank. they don't make cars like that anymore. again a shame. dave in pa.
Bought a 67 ragtop GTO 400 small block with a tri-power intake in 1974 for 600 bucks that wouldn't start. Took it home and started wrenching on it it and found the push rods were so bent they wouldn't come out. Fixed that problem and drove it all through high school if I could afford gas.Guessing 6-8 miles a gallon but a whole lot of fun that I lived to tell about.
My brother had a 66 GTO with a punched out 400, Dual feed 4 barrel Holley, Hooker Headers and a 3 speed automatic with His/Her shifter. Baddest damn car I ever seen. Wish we still had it. Hats off the The Great One.
A classic American made muscle car. Sweet ride!

'67 Pontiac Firebird OHC 6 cyl, that got replaced with a 327 Corvette engine. That little car would RUN, but the back seat was too small.
ReplyDeleteThat's the one where you get pulled over, so they can check out your ride.
