  1. I dunno - almost everything that is marketed these days seems to me to be over-gizmo'd. Now - I like gizmos sometimes, but geez. Does a BBQ grill really need to have wifi and chips? I was looking at trucks a few weeks ago, and comparing them to my 27 year-old stalwart. At the time, it was a fairly luxurious model, not top-o-the-line, but very well-appointed. Now it would hardly make a base model. The latest thing now is tailgates. The modern (standard) ones weigh a mere fraction of my current truck, but even with this, there's an option for a more-fancy tailgate that is dampened, and remotely-controlled, lifts itself up and so on. WTF for? The tailgate on my pickup truck does not need a computer chip!

  2. I keep reading on BBQ websites about people leaving these types of cookers going overnight & waking up to them cold. The auger clogged up or the controller crapped out & the food ruined. I've never messed with one & I don't think I will. Can't afford it anyway.

  3. I use an electric Cook Shack smoker. No wi-fi or fancy controls just a rheostat to control temps. Perfect smoked everything, only uses an ounce or two of wood.

  4. Fuck no! Can we please have some normal things without "technology" built in?

  5. I've got a Weber charcoal grill, works great. Had it about 20 years, don't leave it out in the rain.

  6. $800
That thing is almost as expensive as the cooker in the kitchen.
Waay more than I'll ever need or use.
After all, it's just food, not your god.
Unless you're a blimpy, then it IS your god.

  7. Personally, I take pride in the fact that I can cook or smoke almost anything on my 22 inch Weber. There is a time and a place for computers, this ain't one of them.
