That GoPro might get in the way of something important, like refueling.

  1. GoPro videos are the average Joe's Social Media highway to stardom heaven. They're also the toll road to hell if you're in the wrong place at the wrong time.

  2. Question: What are the "rear view mirror shaped" devices attached to the tubular brackets on each side of the nose? I assume they might be floodlights to assist with landing, but that's a wild guess on my part.

    1. That's an MH-53 minesweeper variant. The mirrors allow the pilots to monitor
      the towed mine countermeasures sled.

    2. Flugelman - Thanks for the info. I've noticed those things on some MH-53's going over my house in the past and always wondered what they were.

  3. Not to worry.
The only part of the boom that matters is the very tip.

If they mounted the GoPro on the main retracting boom anywhere just back of that, they could refuel in-flight and film the drogue coming around the field of view, easy peasey.

It would only be a problem if it snagged on the fuel line drogue.
Which would mainly lead to "Bye bye, GoPro."

But I'm assuming they did this on a mission where in-flight refueling wasn't in the profile.
