Three generations of aircraft developed by the Lockheed Skunk Works in Palmdale, California F-117 Nighthawk, SR-71 Blackbird and an X-35A JSF demonstrator.

    1. I don't understand. The SR-71 is the fastest production plane out there. The F-117 is a retired stealth fighter. The F-35 is the second most capable fighter jet in the world. The F-22 may be old but is still the Queen Bee. The three Lockheed aircraft are all leading edge technology aircraft. That would be 3 out of 3.

    2. No kidding - the commetariat loves to crap on the F-35. Was just talking to some folks who are out there figuring whole new ways to run the Wild Weasal mission with the capability the F-35 brings and our military doesn't like to send out a strike package with at least one gen 5 fighter in the mix to be eyes ,ears, and brains.

  2. It's a remarkable circumstance that the oldest of all of them, by about 30+ years, the one that was designed and built pretty much before the advent of the computer age, is still the baddest ass of them all for pure flying capability.
