And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? These accommodations made out of shipping containers for FIFA World Cup visitors cost upwards of $185 per night.
Most hotel bars in Qatar serve alcohol. Also, if you live in Qatar (have a residency visa) you can purchase alcoholic beverages at a state-run store. Qatar is a nice place to live and work. I lived there for 6+ years in the early 2000's supporting the U.S. Military. Then I moved to Abu Dhabi, UAE for 2 years. Another great place. John in NC
John in NC, I don't doubt that Qatar or Abu Dhabi allow one to purchase alcohol, if you possess the correct licenses or papers, nor that as countries they have a certain beauty, or appeal, but I wouldn't want to live, or work, in either place.
Soccer is a crappy 3rd world sport anyway. 90 minutes of boredom battling to a nil-nil tie, then OT and a shootout. Just skip to the shootout and have done with it.
I'm sure the shootout you're talking about is the official game crap. Best shootout is after the game fights because the damn game was so damn boring the idiot fans have to have SOME excitement before they go home! Bubbarust
Stayed in something similar several times 2005-2009 in same country. Wasn't there to attend a soccer game. Qatar was the in-processing point for those heading to Iraq.

DeleteGood news. The Limey lager louts will be glad to hear that, John. I'm sure they'll be stepping of the planes with slabs of Carling on both shoulders.

ReplyDeleteWhen they are over, send these to NYC, Sacramento, Albany NY, and DC. They will be useful for the migrants sent there.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if the trenches around the perimeter are for the sewage disposal?
