And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

The Leduc 0.21 was not the easiest aircraft to board.
No point trying to eject with the jet intake all around you I guess. What a contraption! Roller blade wheels for landing gear and designed by someone using the concept of a Bic pen.
On display at Musee de l'Air et de l'Espace, the French Air and Space museum outside Paris. If you ever get the chance to visit, do not pass it up as it is a fantastic museum.
The Leduc 0.21 was an experimental aircraft developed to explore ramjet capabilities and characteristics. If something went wrong, the whole pilot 'pod' would eject from the air-frame using an explosive charge. Actually pretty cool, but still dangerous.
It's not the boarding that will be the big problem. It will be the deboarding...if something goes wrong.
ReplyDeleteGotta be French…right..??

ReplyDeleteReductio ad absurdum
ReplyDeleteAn engine with wings. The pilot encased in the flow diverter.
I'd want a zero-zero ejection seat.
ReplyDeleteOne heck of a view.
