  3. My Dad and uncle ran a "gypo" sawmill outside of Matlock, Washington, after WWII. Looks about like their rig! Wet, wet, wet work. Before chainsaws. "Misery whips" (double-ended saws) were the tool of the day.

    2. You nailed it. Cat D8 1H made 1935-1941. Weight 16 tons, 115 HP, 6 speed manual transmission.
