Doing Dad Right

  1. Stupid, stupid, stupid.

How will he feel when they wipe out and the kid drowns?

Alone, his choice to wear a life vest. With a kid? She needs one and he needs one too. If he drowns, she probably does too, lifevest or no.

I'm not even sure you should publish this pic, CW. There is a chance that some other stupid person will see it and think it a good idea.

    2. Chill out, I grew up never wearing a helmet riding a bike or a skateboard

  2. I do think it a cool pic that the dad is taking the kid surfing.

Just that he should not be so stupid about it.

  3. Kid can swim, dad can swim, the photographer (mom?) can swim. Although not risk free, I think we'll be alright here.

Infant toddler was floating face down.
    Last week at local lake.
Water is fun, but better know what you doing.

  5. You probably couldn't drown that kid if you tied an anvil to her leg. I'd wager she's been in the surf since birth.

  6. Looks like the kid's left hand has dad by the balls!

  7. That child trusts her dad. The wave is not large and the water looks smooth. A good ride.

  8. Sweetheart, next wave we catch please don't grab Daddy there because we're going to fall right away.

  9. How else do you teach kids anything? Nothing is ever learned sitting on the sidelines watching! My five year old totally blind daughter insisted I take the
training wheels off her bike because her older brother had none. I put down water
hose in a big circle and she rode and wrecked and skinned knees until
she could feel it and correct course. Same with a go-cart with me holding a long string to a kill switch. Favorite at about that age was sitting in my lap steering
and pressing the top of my foot on the accelator of our big block jet boat and
pushing the jetavator to max and shooting out a 200 foot roostertail, shouting
faster! faster!. Kids have few fears at this age, they just have to be channeled
as safely as possible and encouraged to do their best!
