And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
Actually, considering inflation, this price is about the same as today. On the other hand, that old flattop will cost you as many FRN's today as a new one will. Maybe more.
Unless you have big hands. I've replaced the standard grip frames on one of my New Models and one of my 3 screws with Super Blackhawk grip frames as they fit my hand so much better. There's just something about my pinky finger not having a place to rest that I find uncomfortable.
My favorite Blackhawk is a 4 5/8" barreled New Model. The Super Blackhawk steel grip frame adds weight to help minimize recoil. It's the gun that is always by my side here at the house.
And then there's the Bisley grip frame. Perfect in every respect. I have one of those in a .44 Special.
I read something about your resting pinky finger. The article said that having that finger on the grip is one of the main reasons for poor aim. Shooters would be more accurate if that finger was under the grip.
Wouldn't you like to see that price today?
ReplyDeleteAssuming that $87.50 is in the 1955 dollars that were circulating when the Blackhawk debuteď, that gun is worth $926.63 of our current greenbacks
Delete$87.50????
ReplyDeleteI'll buy a dozen!
Fuk that, I'll take ALL of em.
You beat me to it.

No. You beat me to it.

ReplyDeleteLove the old XR3 grip, the RED grip is okay, but not quite as comfortable as the old one shown here on original Blackhawk.

DeleteI still think as a first firearm a revolver is a good choice
ReplyDeleteThere is no doubt. Especially when you reload for it.
DeleteI love the sound of a single action going to full cock - it makes the bad guy wet his pants.
ReplyDeleteI spent years buying, selling, repairing, building and competing with 1911 pistols but I have always carried only revolvers. What does that tell you?
ReplyDelete"Revolvers are good" unless you're Alec Baldwin...
