And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
I remember those 70's 'Baja Bugs' having a high exhaust sticking way in air. I never rode in one, but on the beach, it appeared to be pretty ideal. They were pretty difficult to get stuck unless you were by yourself and sand was loose and deep.
A friend stripped a Karmen Ghia to frame and most of the body. He added a 454 and two bucket seats and 30" mudders. Still got stuck in semi-packed sand on a steep hill.
That is a more colorful take off of the WWII era dazzle livery. I'm seeing it a lot these days on boats, trucks, offroad side by sides, though not as colorful.
Distressing to me is for maybe 5 yrs now I've been wanting to paint my boat in a dazzle scheme. I hadn't got around to choising a pattern. Now I'll just forget it.
What a shame that Paint Job is so over the Top, you've never want to drive this Off Road, these Baja Bugs were everywhere in So. Cal in the late 70's, a lot of fun and CHEAP to build. We bought the Fiberglass Baja Kit = Back and Front Fenders, Nose and Hood from Johnny's Speed and Chrome for $129.99 There were 2 designs to choose from #1 like this picture with the Headlights set in the Nose or #2 (a little harder to assemble but more popular) where the Headlights were mounted into the Fender.
Maybe with a different paint job. Something in camo, or maybe black and red, with skulls...

DeleteBlack widow spiders crawling out of the eye sockets, while oozing blood...
DeleteIt would be ok with a real paint job instead of the melted box of crayons look

DeleteHad a friend that had one with huge tires with tractor tread in the rear. We managed to get it stuck in the Bonne Carre Spillway.

Third class ride is preferable to a first class walk.
