I have a much cheaper off-brand pair that I use occasionally. At least the magnets won't pull out of this one, but it's a minor inconvenience all the same. But for non-marring vise work, I simply bought an inexpensive 9" woodworker's bench vise, the kind that mounts flush to the side of your bench, and then glued some full grain leather to the jaws, about 1/4 " thick. That really does the trick, and I use it all the time.
I understand what they're used for, but why these at this particular time?
ReplyDeleteToo expensive ($27) for something that is rarely used and easily compensated for. It really depends on what you're wanting to hold.
