And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
Nowadays, computers seem to control most of these aspects, and it makes we wonder if there will be any men who can actually fly by the seat of their pants. I'm pretty certain Yeager had that ability.
Amazing the amount of skill as well as memory and muscle memory required to fly and land one of these safely, and perform the mission requirements as well.....hats off to the old school test pilots....
Yeager was good but he may not have had the technical background to perform the X-15 test suites. Yeager is a bit like Steve Jobs: his reputation exceeds reality.
