I'm pretty happy with it. It's for sure not blistering hot, rather, it's on the mild side, but it does have a subtle smoky flavor. If you want burning hot, go with some Texas Pete's, or this stuff, but mild and smoky has its place.
I've found it goes well with eggs, or with mild meats like chicken. Doesn't overpower, but instead adds a background of nippy bite, so you taste the food, but your mouth has a nice afterburn. I surprised myself finding multiple ways to use it.
I'm getting another bottle as the first one is about gone.
Try a sauce called "No,really, this shit is hot!"

$14 for 8oz?
ReplyDeleteI currently have 6 dif bottles of hot sauce open in the fridge.
Many moons ago I saw Dave's Insanity Sauce and thought I'd try it, terrible. It really didn't qualify as a food product, more like a self defense weapon. Just hot for the sake of being hot with no regard to taste, like at least 50% of the crap on the market these days. Try some Lottie's Original True Bajan if you can find it.

ReplyDeleteI think Texas Pete has a good flavor but not burning hot. Tabasco Sauce is what I think of as burning hot. BTW: my table hot sauce is Crystal Hot sauce.
"original juan" used to put out "Fire & Spice" which was by far the best . . . which probably figures it can't be found anymore. for eggs & such the sirracha is good. tx pete, crystal, chalua all taste pretty much the same & are great on pizza. tabasco just covers the flavor of whatever you're eating.
