  1. Dad had a 1966 F-85. 330 cube V-8 with Powerglide and limited slip differential. He bought it new and said he would never buy a new car again until he bought a Lexus after retirement.

  2. That particular model had the 215 all-aluminum engine. It shared many components with the Buick 215 of the same era with the heads being the big difference. It was later sold to Rover and is the basis of many of their all-aluminum V8 designs.

  3. I had a 62 F-85 Cutlass. That was the first year for the Cutlass. The Cutlass was actually an option for the F-85. It threw a rod threw the block at around 90k miles. It was a fast little car up till that point.

  4. My first car was a '63 Buick Skylark with the 215 c.i.V-8 aluminum block engine. Loved that car.

  5. After grandma stopped driving, afriend inherited that car in exact same color. In tens years she had barely put any miles on. Of course it looked like it just rolled off the showroom floor.

Very comfortable seating although not spacious. He'd burn rubber clear across intersections.

  6. My dad bought a 62 OldsF-85 station wagon for my mother. It had the 215 V8 engine. It was a solid car. The aluminum block V6 that was also available was horrible.

  7. My uncle bought a 63 F-85 Cutlass after coming back from Vietnam as an "advisor". He did two more tours buying a new car each time he came back. He kept the Cutlass but sold the other cars after diving them a year or two. In 69 he quit the Army after the third tour and started climbing telephone poles. He did switch over to the Air Guard to get a retirement but he never deployed to a active zone again. He still has the Cutlass where it has been "restored" for the second time a few years back. He only pulls it out for special occasions and it has been garaged in a climate controlled garage since the 80's.
