And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

Ukrainian fighter plane returning to base from a training exercise in 2020 with a street sign lodged in its air intake
Beating the Russians isn't that big a deal. The Afghanis drove them out of their country with almost no air assets and with bolt action rifles. Hell, they don't even seem to be able to figure out necessary fuel requirements for their ground vehicles......
So, they launched their defense before the invasion...smart.
