And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
In my own beloved United States Army, the Artillery branch is actually nicknamed, "King of Battle", whereas the Infantry branch is nicknamed, the "Queen of Battle.
Artillery officers enjoy referring to their practice as a "more dignified and gentlemanly means of accomplishing a mission".
YUP! Old Onkel Fritz used to say; “Artillery adds dignity, to what would otherwise be an ugly brawl”. Since then the mission has become; "Neither rain, sleet, snow or darkness will keep a cannon-cocker from delivering the mail. .
