And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
Trout are close to not edible. They are a mushy fish. The only good time to eat a trout is when fly fishing with an 8 year old boy and cooking it in a skillet on the side of the creek. Other than that just release them.
Brookies are the most beautiful of fish, a char, actually, not a trout. My second most beautiful fish would be the Cutthroat trout. Small creeks hold the most wonderful trout, not all big, but beautiful none-the-less. And, because most flyfishers will pass them up, you can have small creeks mostly to yourself.
So? What do they taste like? Are they best when fried? I don't like boiled fish too much but baked and roasted are good.

DeleteThey're absolutely delicious. Flavorful, light, so good; either pan-friend in butter, or cooked over a fire.

ReplyDeleteThe most beautiful trout are golden trout. Breathtaking, and only to be found in higher lakes in the Sierra, above timberline as a rule.
ReplyDeleteDarn right. I spent many weeks over the years hiking the Sierra Nevada about the treeline.
DeleteThe most beautiful fish is a swordfish. So beautiful I won't land one half in respect, half in fear of retribution to befall me.
