Haven't seen any instant coffee in decades. Even hungry Yosemite bears won't touch it (don't ask me how I know).

  1. I was astonished to learn that 40% of all coffee beans are used to make freeze dried instant coffee. It is popular outside the U.S. But then so is goat meat.

I keep a half dozen single serve packets in my winter survival kit in my vehicle. It would be better than nothing, I figure.

  2. That exploding coffee looks more like a bad case of the green apple quick step.

Yes, Folgers instant coffee is highly sought after in the Philippines. When we visit we take several jars of it with us for family.

  3. On SSBN 609b out of the yards 4/75 we had a load out of freeze dried DECAF with the "coffee makers" dispensing same! How the Hell is DECAF INSTANT COFFEE on a submarine doing any good with 140 plus swing dicks aboard? It was not a happy DASO...

  4. For the past 5 years or so instant Nescafe "Classico" is all I drink, about 3 stout cups a day. (looks at clock) In fact, it's time for one right now. FWIW, I've been a demonic coffee addict for more than 50 years and I've tried em all. Nescafe Classico instant is where it's at and anybody that says otherwise is a novice.

  5. When I was in the service, I would hoard any packs of instant coffee from my MREs or those not used by others.
    Field excercise?
    Road march?
    Pulling guard duty?
A cargo pocket full of single-serve instant coffee packets and a mouthful of water beats the hell out of "where am I going to come up with a case of energy drinks?"

  6. It's called INSTANT Coffee because there's only One INSTANT when it tastes like Coffee.
Beats the heck out of not having coffee though
