And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
My grandparents (funeral home owners) had a black '52 Packard that they used to transport families to the cemetery after the service. When they sold it in '63, it only had about 35k miles on it, but the seats had been reupholstered twice.
Have always wondered why Packard failed after the War. A factoid. Supposedly the soviets were so taken with their Lend Lease Packards that when Packard went under, they bought the stamping dies to make their own versions.

ReplyDeletePackard tried to compete with Cadillac after the war....they weren't alone in winding up on the scrap heap in the 50's and early 60's.....
