A bit of sanity bubbles up in a very unlikely place. I'm, frankly, astounded this has happened.

Three members of San Francisco’s school board were ousted Tuesday in the wake of widespread backlash over the slow reopening of schools shut down by COVID-19 and a controversial plan to rename dozens of school sites.

School board president Gabriela López, vice president Faauuga Moliga and commissioner Alison Collins were all stripped of their positions during a special election, according to tallies by the San Francisco Department of Elections.

Furious parents launched the recall effort in January 2021 after arguing the school board was pushing progressive politics instead of acting in the best interests of children amid the pandemic.

“The city of San Francisco has risen up and said this is not acceptable to put our kids last,” said Siva Raj, a father of two who helped launch the recall effort.

  1. "this is not acceptable to put our kids last"

I notice they're not arguing to put them first, either.

  2. School boards and teachers (most, not all) don’t care about kids education, but they do care about kids indoctrination…and their PERA accounts. Good riddance to the ousted few, don’t let the door hit you on the way.

  3. I’d add: 3 down, about 10,000 to go.

  4. The three that got canned were a Latinx, a Pacific Islander and a Black (who appears to be about as white as Elizabeth Warren).
    Diversity!

Then there was this quote from the black president of the Board of Supervisors-

Shamann Walton had slammed the recall effort as being pushed by “closet Republicans and most certainly folks with conservative values in San Francisco, even if they weren’t registered Republicans".

So, San Francisco has no room for diversity of thought.

What a clown show. These fools deserve to be stepping in human waste.

  6. I've got friends and family in the San Francisco area and there are more sane people there than you think. A few people speaking up is just the beginning.

  7. Being the Gay Bay it's a guarantee that the replacements will be just as far left and insane as the ones removed.

  8. Not necessarily. I live in San Francisco, west side near the beach, and have since 1967.
Things to know about the school district recall:
The mayor, London Breed, is the quintessential political animal who was elected by the skin of her teeth and knows it.

Only 27% of the electorate voted.

Most San Franciscans who can afford it don't send their kids to our awful public schools.

Most San Franciscans don't have kids, especially those that vote.

The school district union took it in the shorts this election.

Parents don't like the idea of their kids falling behind scholastically.

We shall see who the mayor appoints. She'll always be a stone blown liberal, but she is sensitive to which way the wind is blowing...

Oh, and by the way: I voted to kick 'em out. Jerks.

  9. I've never heard of a mayor being able to appoint board members. I've only known that members are voted even, even in the case of special elections.

It seems this is something the socialists have done; to give powers to a single person. Keep control of that person (mayor) therefore power over several agencies.
