Would this be hot rolled steel?

  2. Rolled steel is sheet steel used for the sides and tops of cars, refrigerators... You often see a large roll of sheet steel on flatbed semis on the interstate.

  5. When I've bought shaped steel there's always a choice between hot-rolled and cold-rolled when it comes to round stock (just my limited experience). Cold-rolled is a lot harder and stronger. Hot rolled is a lot easier to work with for a welding fab project, plenty strong enough for most things and much easier to heat and bend/forge to shape.
