A trip to Chico's newest distillery -- Golden Beaver

I had the day off for  Caesar Chavez Day, so Mrs. CW took the day off her work too, and off we went in the orange car.

The destination was Golden Beaver distillery, newly opened in the little valley berg of Chico, and a fine hour and a half drive down valley.

A nice lineup of product.

Super clean.

Weird still for making moonshine.

Lots of shiny copper.

Moonshine made from rice (a big ag product hereabouts).

Patriotism and small business go together.

Tasted them all, then over to a local Indian restaurant for a fun dinner meet up with Gerard from American Digest.  Thanks Caesar for the day off and thanks Gerard for meeting on short notice!!

  1. All that copper. Is it treated to keep it shiny? That would be a lot of polishing if it's not.

    1. I polished all the brass at a light house every Friday for weekend visitors. We didn't have near that much...

  5. If you enjoy this, and I do, try the Bourbon Trail in KY if you get a chance. The difference in scale is enormous. Jim Beam and Wild Turkey are huge, Woodford Reserve and Castle and Key are architectural landmarks, Maker's Mark is one of the better tours.

  6. Did they swap out the bear for a beaver on the CA flag? Was there a story behind that?

  10. Thanks for putting up for my blather. It had been a year since I had a sit down meal with friends in a restaurant and a cocktail in the cowboy/farmer/ biker bar next door. Lets repeat up your way. At Redding Priya over on Churn Creek Road.

If you ride low and don't cause no commotion.

    1. Gotcha ;>} Being a former Paradise resident [8 years], graduate of CSUC [at least I got my teaching credential there] and a Bidwell descendant, I still have fond memories of that small[?] college town. Does the Brewery still have blues concerts?
