For perfect dovetails

  1. For a commercial cabinet shop, sure. But for the man in his shop, there is much to be said for a back saw and a chisel. Hand scribing the layout of dovetails is a time honored and worthy tradition. No noisy router required.
An expensive jig defrocks the art of fine woodworking.

Anyway, most of everything that commercially produced jig can do can be done on the table saw with a simple jig which any woodworker with intermediate skills should be able to accomplish. Actually, by such means there are less limitations than that imposed by the commercial jig.
