And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? Caterpillar's diesel engines were once widely used in heavy-duty trucks. But the company opted to withdraw from the truck engine business in 2010 rather than invest in a costly upgrade of its exhaust treatment system to comply with stricter federal regulations on diesel emissions.
They only blew up because someone like the guy above tried to get twenty times the horsepower and torque out of it than it was designed for.
The best truck engine ever made was the mechanical (not electronic) version of their 3406 engine. I believe that's the engine that split in two above. Driven correctly, guy could easily get a million miles out of one before even thinking about an overhaul while still passing every other loaded truck on the road. Unless the other truck happened to have a 3408 Cat engine. But I'd take a 3406 any day of the week. Fantastic engines.
