Are those two guys the rescue party, or the pilot and co-pilot? Or just polar bear hunters examining a crash?

  1. Looks like they are carrying US M1917 rifles. Maybe Danish Sirius Sled Dog Patrol.

  2. Well. They look like .303 enfield's and they're wearing 'whites' so I would venture they're Canadian Rangers.
Which patrol/community your guess is as good as mine.

  3. It was from National Geographic 2019:
Canadian soldiers climb on the wreckage of a plane, roughly a thousand miles south of the North Pole, to scout the area during an Arctic survival course on Cornwallis Island. As the Arctic warms and tensions over its future rise, the Canadian and U.S. militaries have stepped up operations in the region.

    1. As the Arctic warms..... Yeah, I can see that just by looking at the plane.

    2. The Vikings grew barley on Greenland back in the day. They stopped because it got to cold. When we can grow barley there again we can pick up the conversation.

Until then I think it wiser to observe what was centuries ago and compare. And not pay to much attention to what someone whos livelihood is dependent on finding faults with Western civilization.

    3. I let my NG subscription lapse 20 years ago when it became obvious they had changed the name to "Environmental Alarmism Monthly".

Bullshit "science" as the Sun quiets and the Earth enters a cooling phase.

    1. I wish the Northern Hemisphere was warming, there used to be at least a half mile of ice over my house once upon a time.
An extra three inches of sea-level is nothing compared to that.
If that idiot (I say idiot because I'm not sure what level of badder words are tolerated here) Bill Gates actually tries to loft solar reflecting material into earth orbit, I'd suggest someone cancel his ticket.

  5. About 5 years ago gave up a since childhood subscription to NatGeo, got tired of the global warming preaching.

    1. I'd guess a Grumman C-1 w/o engines.
It's too small for a Fairchild C-123 but the engine mounts look to be for a radial.

  7. Resolute Bay then probably. Lots of wrecks off the runways of the old dew line (and all the other lines, I don't recall the names) sites.
The world is getting warmer (cooler). It's called weather. And since our records only go back, at best, a hundred years, nothing to freak out about. We'll figure out something, even if the oceans rise, it ain't gonna be a tsunami.
    Love the pictures.
