  2. I used to do that. Knees gave out by my late thirties.
When I came home from class or open practice, my heavy canvas duck uniform was totally soaked with sweat.

  3. I agree John,it doesn't look like it is that demanding, but I think it may be the hardest sport I ever participated in.

  5. Have the rules changed? They're fencing foil...the back is not a target in foil...that would register a "false" hit which wouldn't count for a point. Epée and sabre allow hits on the back but foil does not.

  6. The "torso" is the target, the metallic vest each fencer is wearing covers the valid target area.
    Wiki
In foil the valid target area includes the torso (including the lower part of the bib of the mask) and the groin. The head (except the lower part of the bib of the mask), arms, and legs are considered off target. Touches made off target do not count for points, but do stop play.[citation needed] The target area has been changed multiple times, with the latest change consisting of adding the bottom half of the bib to the target zone.[citation needed]

  7. At the beginning, it says "Violent attack". Later, at the top, it says "The technique of the instant" (quick and dirty translation, you get what you paid for), and at the bottom, it says "The reversal".
