And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

Alligator eye shine in a Florida river, Myakka River State Park
Last year a guy was breaking into houses in the next city south. Police were called and started patrolling the neighborhood. Burglar hops into the nearby pond to hide. It was about midnight.
They eventually found parts of his body. I think they were in the fattest gator.
Thats most likely a place in the park called the "deep hole". Its about 120ft deep and during droughts when other areas dry up the gators head to there. I've seen times they were so thick you could probably walk across the gators there
I grew up near there. Went kyaking once on the Myakka river. Spooked some gators. They swam right underneat the kayak, bumping it on their backs as they swam by. Never been so scared in my life.
Yet there are some who wouldn't hesitate to indulge in a little skinny-dipping in the moonlight.

I remember hearing about that, where was it?
DeleteI lived 40 years in Cape Coral-Fort Myers.
I live in St Pete. I think this happened in Port Charlotte, but it’s been a couple of years.
