The Bréguet BR-521 ‘Bizerte’. Only 37 were ever built. Between 1935 and 1940 she equipped 5 squadrons of the French navy, mainly being operated in the Mediterranean area of operations.

  1. That's quite a monstrosity! Probably took an awful long run to get airborne!

  2. I find planes of that era quite beautiful. Great courage was required, just to do your job.

  3. I just now Googled it, and Wikipedia gives a good description of it, defining it as a long-range reconnaissance aircraft, armed with five (05) machine guns, and carrying four (04) bombs mounted under the wings.

One of the photographs depicts a huge cargo bay, and a spartan cockpit.

After the fall of France, the aircraft became part of the German Luftwaffe.
