And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
Buddy of mine was a loadmaster on C-133's back in the day, and compared sizes and lift capacity of the two recently. They're fairly close, although one would hope the A400 will prove to be a bit more durable. Of the fifty C-133's produced, they lost ten, one to a refueling accident on the ground and another in an ocean ditching, with no casualties in either event. But the rest went down with all hands and some just flat disappeared over open ocean with no trace. Pretty dismal record, when you think about it.
The A400M, ugly as sin. Europe's "Fuck you" to buying Boeing's C-17.
ReplyDeleteFlash as hell.

ReplyDeleteNot gorgeous. Just clean.
ReplyDeleteThe gorgeous version of that sort of aircraft has gatling guns and a howitzer poking out that side.
