A 361-pound tuna fish was reeled in off the Orange County coast, becoming the largest caught since way back in 1958, according to Newport Landing Sportfishing in Newport Beach.

I thought the oceans were dying.

A whopping 11 Bluefin Tuna were caught aboard the vessel hosting 24 guests

Weights ranged from 160 to 361 pounds.  Apparently this is unusual off SoCal.

  1. Yes, it's unusual. Usually you have to go south into Mexican waters. But the currents change from year to year and sometimes they move north along with the albacore.

  2. You say the guests' weights varied from 160 to 360 lbs. In the U.S., that's not unusual at all. :)

  3. Yeah, tuna pops fluctuate greatly and their migration pattern is also very affected by ocean surface temps, so this could be a result of many different factors, or not.
Just sayin' And being a marine biologist is just an affirmation that we really don't know what the hell is going on out there. And there are an unscrupulous bunch that foment hell is coming soon if you don't fund their projects.

  4. That fish is literally worth hundreds of thousands sold to the Japanese. They will have that beast sliced up into sashimi and sushi within minutes of touchdown at the airport!!!
