  1. Love it! Until I saw both at Duxford last year I didn't realise they're the same size as a Lancaster and almost as big as a B17!

  2. What is it that makes the Catalina so romantic? I had a book on WWII aircraft as a child and I dreamed of flying one of these all over the globe, going from one adventure to another. The wasted days of youth...

  3. It would be nice to have one and spend the summer living on board in Alaskan waters, fishing, hanging out, etc. Have a zodiac to motor to shore for supplies.

  4. Those things are noisy as hell. And they give a whole new meaning to the word 'slow'. And I know of a co-pilot who was be-headed when the starboard propeller failed and came apart.

  5. Many years ago in a galaxy not to far away I was offered a job as a co-pil0t in one of those swards turned into plowshares fighting forest fires but turned it down because I was on the road to much greater adventures. If I had taken the job, I would be dead now.
