And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
God, I miss this. I'm 75, and I don't necessarily like aging at this point, but I wouldn't have missed the world I grew up in for all the tea in China.
There was adult music of every kind on the radio, and no rocknroll until I was 10. Girls dressed like girls until my 20's; I was deeply a leg man until they all started dressing like 12-year-old boys in the late '60s.
At 78 yrs. me too, Rob. I sorely miss the 50s. Life back then sitting on the stoop in Paterson, NJ in the summer watching fire flies, talking to neighbors and hearing big band music can never be equaled in my memory
Some of their grandchildren still do. I'm 25 and have danced to most, if not all of those songs, albeit at not nearly the same level of skill as those wonderful couples displayed.
My wife dragged me to ballroom dance lessons 3 years ago so we could dance properly at our oldest son's wedding.
I got hooked.
Now we're at 2 lessons a week, 2 nights out a week at local dance venues and practices at home in a large sitting room we emptied. We can't swing like the pros in the video but we're at least dancing to the same tunes.
I've introduced some friends and family to dancing and they're hooked too. We all asked "Why wasn't I told?" and we were all forced to admit we were told, and often, but we were too young and stupid to listen.
Youtube has some great videos of the current generation and they've added some moves. Lot of them are foreign country kids which is awesome as they also appreciate this kind of video.

DeletePreach it, brethren.
DeleteI'm old enough to have caught the tail end of what I missed.
So we just have to rebuild.
The daughter can sew and bake. We need to get on the shooting and dancing. Feel free to steal the Ladies and Gentleman's Shooting and Sewing Socials.
It don't mean a thing if you ain't got that swing. (do-ah do-ah)

Young and stupid is repetitious, no?
