Astounding Talent - Something Wonderful Indeed!

So good I had to re-post this from American Digest, which, by the way, deserves a daily visit.

And how are those people walking by in the background not stopped cold by this?  Were it me, there's no way I could not stop and just listen.

  1. Fantastic. Also got introduced to Ashley Campbell Glenn's daughter. She sounds a little like Dolly Parton also. People walking by never stop to smell roses, thats why they think their lives are miserable.

  3. Years ago, when I could still stand up and walk, I did some busking, and it was just me using my natural voice while strumming chords on my classical guitar, singing songs I'd learned from listening to the radio, or singing songs that I'd composed myself, both lyrics and melody.

No electronics, no microphone, no electric guitar, no sheet music, everything memorized and done "by ear", because I don't know music.

That's the way I like to see busking done, i.e., what used to be called "Bluegrass", back before electronics invaded and ruined "Bluegrass", and all the rest of Doo Wop, Rock 'n' Roll, Folk, Country, and Western music, and even with the influence of organized crime corrupting Nashville and the Grand Ol' Opry beyond recognition.

But these kids did one thing correctly, which almost every other performer(s) get wrong.

They kept the volume of their instruments low enough so that their voices could easily be heard.

Almost all of the others seem to ALWAYS drown out their voices with electronic instruments turned up far too high, so you can't really discern if the singer even has any talent.

And, yes, these kids have great voices!

But, I think they need somebody like me to coach them.

I said, "like me", because I can't do it, so, I hope there's somebody out there who can, and is willing.

Because of my failing health, I no longer perform, but I invite you to search for my homemade amateur video recordings at the YOU TUBE web site and on my FACEBOOK page.

Those recordings are several years old, made when I was still able to perform, but knew that I was running out of time.

Having composed original songs, both lyrics and melody, it's always been a secret dream of mine to be standing in an elevator and hear one of my songs being played by a symphony orchestra.

Then, I would know that I was a success!

Alas, I reckon that about a hundred or more years after I'm long dead and gone, someone will accidentally "discover" one or two of my songs, and maybe then my songs will become popular.

  6. That young gal has great pipes! She would make a fantastic Torch Singer. The young man has a smattering of Johnny Cash in him...

  7. I reckon most folks, as did I, think the song is about a lonely soldier in some war far from home.

But, when I researched it, I learned it was actually composed by an inmate at a state prison.
