And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

Rat Pack Fun
Dean Martin always looked half smashed. Yet, notice how classy they were dressed. Class. Could use more of it these days.
I read somewhere years ago that it was all an act with Dean Martin and that he really wasn't a big drinker. He supposedly had rosacea or something that made his face look like he was a lush. I don't know how true this is, but I'd like to think so........
I read where his wife claimed the only drinking he did was a glass of wine with supper....it was all an act......I remember once on the old Dean Martin show where the stage hands used to bring him a fake glass of Scotch, iced tea I believe, and he'd take a big ol' belt just to set the tone....well one night they really did give him a glass of Scotch and the look on his face was priceless....
Dean wasn't near the drinker he pretended to be. It was expected of him and he was smart enough to play along. And when it comes to class it would be hard to beat Hollywood of the 30's, 40's and 50s.

ReplyDeleteMuch classier than the present day wardrobe of most people...
ReplyDelete"I feel sorry for people who don't drink ... when they wake up in the morning, that's as good as they're going to feel all day."
ReplyDelete- Dean Martin
"If I drank as much as you people think I did, I'd have been dead 15 years ago."
