Ford Ranchero, 1957. Why wouldn't these sell today?

  1. The modern version of the Ranchero is the Honda Ridgeline.

  4. It's a Ford. And no bluetooth or backup camera.

  5. Hate the full size truck lines, need and want a little truck to run errands, carry rather small loads and be everyday runabout. Dont need an F150 standing 7 ft tall. Ford offered some lame reason for killing ranger and Toyota and Nissan both killed small trucks to get into full size market.

  6. From the driver's seat forward it was the least expensive car in the Ford lineup that morphed into a uni-body truck bed. I prefer the Falcon version of the 60's with a FE 390.

If Ford followed it's formula you would have a Fiesta or Ecosport front end and would probably be an all wheel drive. That would be less than desirable with either front ends. But then again there is the new Ranger.

  8. for the millenials, not enough cup holders.

I agree - I think some would be sold. Station wagon sized cargo bed that can be slept in (your choice of no tarps star lit or rain protected tarp and staying out of mud - snow.

Cab would be heated or cooled quickly and with a bench seat . . perfection. A narrow 12" wide cargo shelf w/ built in tool storage behind the fold down bench back. Just update the grill and lesson the fins in back. Built in step at rear bumper corners

  10. Pet peeve of mine, liked the smaller trucks. I can reach things in the bed and haul a sheet of plywood. Ford judged that a ranger with some upgrades was just as expensive as a base f 150.so they thought that buyer would just go for the f 150. Totally overlooking the fleets that used these trucks( meter readers, auto parts stores, industrial plant internal runarounds) as well as people like me that don't want the built in ladder to get into the bed.
