And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

Only one of those pedestrians had any situational awareness at all, and he didn't do the one thing that could have saved him.
The driver is subject to criminal prosecution. There were undoubtedly major injuries and possibly a death. Driving with the bed up is itself a moving violation.
One guy paused because he had some vestige of awareness but the others, they walked as if the whole earth was their domain. Sad.
