TRUMP STRIPS CALIFORNIA OF $930 MILLION IN HIGH-SPEED RAIL FUNDING

About time.

Now I hope he can get the other couple of billion back.  The less this state has to waste, the better.

California’s once-celebrated dream of high-speed rail became bogged down by cost overruns, delays and mismanagement. State officials reported in 2018 that finishing the entire rail line could cost $77 billion.
Despite the high cost, Newsom, a Democrat, said he wanted to complete a section of the rail line to help the Central Valley’s economy and avoid having to send $3.5 billion in federal funds back to the Trump administration.

“I am not interested in sending $3.5 billion in federal funding that was allocated to this project back to [President] Donald Trump,” Newsom said in February.

It's not your money Gavin, nor is it Trump's.  It's ours - the working citizens of the country - the deplorables. Give it up, thief.

  • Statement from the Federal Railroad Administration
“After careful consideration, the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) has terminated Cooperative Agreement No. FR-HSR-0118-12-01-01 (the FY10 Agreement) with the California High-Speed Rail Authority (CHSRA), and will deobligate the $928,620,000 in funding under that agreement. The decision follows FRA’s Notice of Intent to Terminate and consideration of the information provided by CHSRA on March 4, 2019. FRA finds that CHSRA has repeatedly failed to comply with the terms of the FY10 Agreement and has failed to make reasonable progress on the Project. Additionally, California has abandoned its original vision of a high-speed passenger rail service connecting San Francisco and Los Angeles, which was essential to its applications for FRA grant funding. FRA continues to consider all options regarding the return of $2.5 billion in American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) funds awarded to CHSRA.”

  1. It is a time honored tradition for Californians to use Railroad construction as a Cash Cow nourished by the Federal Government and it's beloved Tax Paying chumps. This dates back to the 1860's with the building of the transcontinental railroad and the savvy manipulations of Collis Huntington, Leland Stanford, Charles Crocker and Mark Hopkins - along with their well paid Congressional friends back in Washington DC. The system, well greased, worked well up until today. However, California does not have $2.5 billion to return. By this time it has been disbursed to the appropriate pockets, never to be seen again thanks to a multitude of accounting anomaly's.

  2. They could help tge Central Valley's economy by a) deporting the illegals and b) actually delivering the water that farmers are paying for.
