And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

Studebaker K-body hardtops in San Francisco. 1956 Golden Hawk. 1953 Starliner.
I've had ALFA's, a Jag, an MGB GT and 60's Fords with big engines but I'd rather have one of the '53 Studebakers than anything else. Back in the 50's our family had several Studes including a stylish '64 wagon.
My Granddad had the '53 Starliner, I loved that car.
He owned a feed store, and put 100# bags of feed in the trunk until he broke the rear springs; it was never the same after that, but he didn't seem to care. Made me sad, though.
That can't be San Fran. There's no homeless, sh*t or expended needles on the street.
ReplyDeleteSan Francisco in the '50s was beautiful. Even when I finally got back there in the '70s it was the cleanest city I'd ever seen.
ReplyDeleteWhen the Socialists started taking over in the '80s it started going downhill fast.

ReplyDeleteSorry, obviously we didn't have a '64 wagon in the 50's.
ReplyDeleteMy father had one when I was born. I wish he would have kept it
