And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

Subjective Opinion Alert: Behold! The world's best Scotch.
Lagavulin was the only Scotch for me. Had a stroke. Could no longer stand the taste(along with many other things I had loved. Food and drink) Had to start over finding things I liked. Stronachie 18 has admirably filled the Scotch void. Oddly enough Bushmills tastes as it always has, excellent.
That's simply because Busmills is the stand alone marker for what a great Irish is. It always has been since its creation in the oldest distillery (est. 1608) in all of the known world. And it surely always will be.
Laphroaig. Not on the rocks but in the environs of Fort William, gentlemen. Note I say gentlemen since I haven't met a woman who sips the single malt. If there's one out there please let me know.
Like that Port Charlotte, and Lagavulin, but the best I've had was a bottle of 30 year old Laphroaig. The extra time makes it incredibly smooth, but still smoky and strong. Of course, that stuff is now priced beyond my means, but when I had it the bottle was worth the $300 asking price.
glenfarclas single malt. 25 years in the cask. none finer.
ReplyDeletejust my opinion. means nothing
DeletePartial to The Singleton
ReplyDeleteMmmm - I subjectively like Oban as well ... and Balvenie .... and Lagavulin is my subjective fave though.
ReplyDeleteIt's a lot like asking what your favorite handgun is. Lots of opinions out there.

DeleteMy wife drinks more Lagavulin than I do - in fact, she first tasted it on an expedition above the arctic circle and came home with a bottle for us.
DeleteTalisker. Laphroaig with a splash of soda.
ReplyDeleteBruchladdich Port Charlotte, if you please.
ReplyDeleteBunnahabhain 12 y.o., Lapphroaig 10 y.o., and Craigellachie 13 y.o. (Speyside)
ReplyDeleteI tried that Bunnahabhain, and for just a second, I thought I'd found the new champion. That stuff is really good.
DeleteScotch? Blech! Nastiest whiskey ever made. Bourbon for me, thanks. Yeah, I know, I'm a heathen..................
ReplyDeleteI am partial to Balvenie Doublewood 17 year old is one of my favorites. I have found most Scotch's that are aged 15 years or more to be very good.
ReplyDeleteAnd I drink a lowland blend as my everyday Scotch.
