Prototype jet engine for the Su-57

Kind of saggy

  1. It's showing their thrust vectoring capability. They can do some startling maneuvers by using the engine thrust to steer the plane.
I've wondered at times why we haven't tried to develop the same technology.

  2. The first deployed jet to use it, although in a different way, was the Harrier. It could do some pretty wild maneuvers in the air by rotating the engine nozzles to change forward speed etc.

  3. tactically useless if it slows you down. violates the KISS principal of engineering. what happens when one fails up and the other fails down? did you say screw your way thru the sky?
all kidding aside, wonder what the mean time between failure is for all those bits of stuff.
