  5. Why were they called "suicide doors"?

    I liked that style on the Lincoln 4-door convertible, and wish it was still available.

    1. Who knows why? It's just what people called them back in the day.

    2. They were called that because if you opened it while moving at speed the
      wind would slam the door back, pulling you out of the car. I've seen aftermarket safety straps from back in the thirties on 33-34 fords.
