And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
Well... This looks like Alaska, and the last time I was there, Walking down the street in Juneau, there was a couple dozen of them dumpster-diving behind a fish restaurant. Changed my view of them forever, although I still think they're beautiful birds..
It's very easy to tell the difference. The golden color on its head and neck and its tail feathers make it pretty easy, as does its size.
We used to get both at the family ranch regularly. One time I surprised a mature Golden at a creek crossing and when he lifted off it seemed like he just about blew me off my quad from twenty feet away.
It was always a thrill to see either bird. It never gets old.
I'm glad they didn't take up on Ben Franklin's idea of making it a turkey. He was a very practical dude, but 'cmon.
