  3. Imagine the world in 1593, when the time & money spent on building a fort about your town was necessary!

  4. The Vauban Star. Eliminates blind spots for defenders. I still want to make a house like that.

  5. Modern towns should copy this idea. Or even sub-divisions. Would want to guard against over-zealous HOAs though, at Tom Hyland mentions.

  6. A fort design notoriously difficult to assault and breach. There are some star forts built with a lot more severe points for closer mutual fire support. They are usually smaller forts also. Interestingly though they are not used much nowadays it is still a highly effective design even with the weapons currently in use. Of course not much can withstand a 1500lb Russian glide bomb. Far as infantry assault is concerned they are hard to beat if you have enough defenders to man every point under attack.
Might end up being a good thing to keep in mind what with this country getting closer to FUBAR each day with the globohomo psychopaths in control. With the future prospect of feudal states or areas developing as this government becomes totally ineffective as more and more of those getting a paycheck and holding seats of power from them turn total traitor. Oxymoron there I know. Most are already they just keep it hidden, particularly as they eliminate anyone patriotic honest or who has principles anathema to the vast organized criminal racket working along the fringes of the shadows who essentially are the shadow deep state.
Fun times ahead. Imagine, imagining you end up swearing an oath of alliegance to a local feudal lord or potentate or a ma-lisha in order to have some form of local security?

  7. The most elegant mathematical expression of “interlocking fields of fire.”

  8. You can find towns like this in France too. The fortified town of Neuf-Brisach in France is another example.
