  5. That's a Javelina which is a native animal different from the invasive feral wild hogs. You can eat them but you need to remove the scent glands really quickly after you shoot one of them.

  8. Up in the Huachuca mountains, we saw a cute little javalina piglet in front of a brush line. It squealed at us, then ran into the bushes. We waited a couple. minutes, and it came back out and repeated its performance. And then again.
    Being naturally suspicious, we went very wide around that line of brush. The whole pack was waiting in ambush on the other side! There were repeatedly sending the little one forward as bait.
