And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
Personally, I view an automobile as four tires and a motor. All of those fancy doodads and appointments are a major waste of money. But, of course, that's most likely just me.
@John That is basically what the green Vette is. It does not have a passenger mirror so it is a 74, 75, or first half year 76. The hood tells me it is a L48 so it had at best 195 hp if it is a 74. The 75 and 76 had less HP. Just over a quarter of the Vette's produced in those years were 4-speed base models without any options.
I always liked the Mako Shark body style and happily for me it's the least expensive to buy. Bolt it to an upgraded frame with C4 suspension and brakes and then drop in an LS motor and you could have double the horsepower with a few mods..... First, I have to expand the garage. Al_in_Ottawa
I had me a 68 "silver anniversary" edition with 4 speed, no options as far as I could tell (I was not the original owner). White. Rated 160 HP as I recall. Discovered that the rear spark plug on the drivers side could not be removed without first removing the engine and transmission (note I have avoided calling it a tranny due to current events) according to the maintenance manual. BRILLIANT. Well, fun to drive anyway. Sold it for cash for down payment on my first piece of real estate. I believe the first owner may have fishtailed it into a curb, as I had to replace the driver side bearing in the posi-rear. Somewhere I have a picture from under the ass end of that beast, with rear taken apart . . . . good times, good times.
if you go to non-original rants today, the Thursday meme drop has a kid dressed with a garden hose and there is a 78 vette in the background. It's a meme about being in the mid-80s, but the clothes are more mid-70s from what I recall. . . . .
