  1. The skid pan is part of the driving test for bus drivers, it also allows new drivers to have confidence that the bus will not tip over.

  2. I got my PSV licence (as it was then ) in 1979 with no skid pan. I qualified in skidding early one morning with a Bristol VR full of dockers on their way to work. There was black ice and I did a dramatic six wheel drift in front of Grimsby Town Hall. There was a huge cheer from the passengers and a quiet sigh of relief from me . . .
