And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
He's not tethered. I think what is safe in such pursuits is only in one's perception. There are probably a hundred ways that rig could fail.
I wonder about the crampons they wear. In my day, there were only metal. I would rethink wearing metal while crossing in that ladder. I suppose even with high tech plastic crampons, they would cold soak to become 'slippery'.
Obviously, I am only theorizing, having not hiked glaciers or snow camped in decades.
Some guys race fast cars or bikes. Or, ski double diamond runs. Or hang glide, or free dive to great depths. Or tame lions or surf bigs waves or a thousand other things.

Looks like Khumbu Icefall. Lots of deaths there. Shame about Everest and its commercialization. If I were able, I’d rather climb Makalu.
