And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
If anyone who has never had the pleasure to visit that beautiful Hawiian island, let me tell you that if there was a "near-perfect" place on this Earth, Kauai would be a close second.
What I might add is that the Hawaiians on Kaui have legislated that the extremely limited development of the island must be so that the "near-perfect" island will not lose its "Old Hawaiian" charm.
Spent the month of February every year there from the 90's until 2014 and, yes, it's as close to paradise as you'll ever get. What they don't mention is the horrendous traffic problem that occurs every weekday from 7AM-9AM and 3PM to5PM. Hard to believe that this tropical volcanic mountain top jutting out in the middle of the Pacific has " rush hours " but it's true. The highway only goes 3/4s of the way around the island. The Napali cliffs have no road, soooo, everyone has to return the same way they went on their day trips and since everyone who lives on the west side works on the east side and vice versa, you learn very quickly not to be on the roads during the morning and afternoon rush. Stuff they don't mention in the tourist brochures
You know? There is always one disgruntled person in every crowd. When I go on vacation, I leave the car keys on the dresser and walk to where I need to go. If where I am headed is too far to walk, I stay off the roads during "rush hour" because that is when the working stiffs are headed to or from work.
