  1. When living in Germany, it always amazed me how many building had dates older than the USA and twice as old as my home state Colorado. This old good stuff was built to last unlike what is done now.

    1. Built before engineers. They just used good old common sense and the desire to leave something for the succeeding generations.

  2. That building is 329 years old?!!! I live in Colorado where a 100 year old building is considered "old"!!!

  3. It's De Sluyswacht, wife and I had a beer there 5 years ago after visiting the Rembrandt Museum , which is just down the block. Charming place, great staff, food OK, beer bad. Dutch beer is really not very good.

  4. I've drank there before and local rumor says it was Rembrandt's favorite hangout.

    1. Okay, it wasn't this building. Another one nearby but it's been over 20 years but I remember a pub situated alone like this building. Rembrandt born and died 1606-1669.

  5. Now show a picture of the grand architecture the Africans were producing at this time, I am sure it is just as impressive since they built America.

  6. De Sluyswacht = the "sluice watch", or lock house.
