And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

I'd be so tempted to step in and see. But with a rope tied around me and a couple of twenty somethings to pull me out if things go wrong.
Couldn't be any worse than Low country pluff mud. Black, purple & gray stinky mud that smells like rotten eggs & can suck you down to your waist in seconds.
Seems like the danger of quicksand and of finding blasting caps laying around was exaggerated when I was a kid. I only know one person who got a couple fingers blown off from playing with blasting caps he found and I don't think I've ever even seen quicksand.
Who could forget the quicksand scene in the classic, Blazing Saddles?
ReplyDelete"Dang, that was lucky. Doggone near lost a $400 handcar."

ReplyDeleteAmen to that !
DeleteYou’d trust a twenty-something?
ReplyDeleteOn thinking over the plan, maybe it should be the twenty something that goes in with the rope, and I'll pull them out if necessary.
DeleteRemember as a kid watching TV and movies, people were always getting trapped in quicksand. Now here is a warning sign
